Before Steve has to leave back to Vienna, I decided we needed to celebrate his birthday early. Thanks to the Waters' and their cool fire pit, Steve wanted one just like theirs. Jill took me to Lehi Stones to get the outer stones and the inside part. Nathan and Steve put it together. We got some of the family together tonight to celebrate his birthday and to break in the fire pit.
We had "kosher" polish dogs and "kosher" hot dogs. Then we topped it off with smores. The fire pit worked so good and made everything taste so much better. All the kids came over and Darrell and Dyann and cousin Mike. Zack and Kathy and the kids came too. We all had a lot of fun visiting and laughing. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Steve and Yom-ho Maleva.
Steve leaves back to Vienna on the 4th of July. He has his return ticket for December 18th. We plan on more parties when he gets back!!!

NIce to see the blog continuing. Great combination of Happy Birthday and Goodbye and Bon Voyage. Loved the birthday part, hate the goodbye part. Have a great trip Steve and keep up the Blog.
Good times. That was fun, and the fire pit is awesome. When we are not using it we will have to put a statue of Dad on it in memory of him, and when we are using it, we will stand him by it in an apron, and a spatula. :) I hope you have fun Dad, and that time goes by fast.
Steve, wish we couldve been there, the fire pit looks awesome.. Happy Early Birthday, I know wishing you were coming to Ft Bragg won't make it happen or make you feel better, but still I wish upon a star you could come..We'll do it again in 2 years..
I want one of those fire pits. That one looks really great. Looks like everyone had a lot of fun.
The Fire Pit
Bricks ... with no mortar
Grills ... with no sacrifice
Fire leaping high
Coals ... with no flame
Heat ... with no sun
Family gathering light
Sons ... with strength
Daughters ... with courage
Separation charring old life
Wife ... with support
Home ... with protection
Vienna nurturing new growth
Fire burns but breeds wholeness
