HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE!!!!

Before Steve has to leave back to Vienna, I decided we needed to celebrate his birthday early. Thanks to the Waters' and their cool fire pit, Steve wanted one just like theirs. Jill took me to Lehi Stones to get the outer stones and the inside part. Nathan and Steve put it together. We got some of the family together tonight to celebrate his birthday and to break in the fire pit.

We had "kosher" polish dogs and "kosher" hot dogs. Then we topped it off with smores. The fire pit worked so good and made everything taste so much better. All the kids came over and Darrell and Dyann and cousin Mike. Zack and Kathy and the kids came too. We all had a lot of fun visiting and laughing. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Steve and Yom-ho Maleva.

Steve leaves back to Vienna on the 4th of July. He has his return ticket for December 18th. We plan on more parties when he gets back!!!

Home

We finally got here but it wasn't easy. Our 10-1/2 flight from Vienna to Chicago went great. We had a 6 hour layover in Chicago so we tried to get an earlier flight. They had one that we might be able to get on with only a 3 hour wait. (This is United Airlines). Then flights were getting delayed because of weather including ours. In the end, it was pushed back to the time of our original flight. We all finally board the plane. It is packed!! We are taxied and are 5th in line. We are ready to take off and we are going very slow. Nathan and I are both thinking that there is no way we are going to get off the ground at this speed. The captain gets on and says that we need more gas and that we have to go back to the terminal. It will take 10 mins. I stand to grab a jacket because the AC is on full blast and I'm freezing to death. The stewardess gets on and tells me to sit down because the seat belt sign is on. I grab it anyway. We sit for an hour and 15 mins. to get gas. We finally taxi out again and are 5th in line.......again. We finally do take off this time. The seat belt sign stays on. The captain gets on and says that we have turbulence and to say in our seats. It should only be for 10 mins. (What's up with the 10 min. thing anyway. Nothing is 10 minutes with them.) An hour and a half later the seat belt sign finally........goes off. Half the passengers immediately get up and run to the ONE bathroom. The stewardess get on again and tells everyone to sit down and that there can't be a line to the bathroom. No one moves. We finally get in at midnight......an hour and a half LATE!!!!! But we're here.

The Third Man . . .

So the time passed as if it were a dream. It seems almost as if we just flew in to Vienna, but now we return to the States. It has been an amazing adventure. Many high spots, many low, much excitement and viele boredom for some. We fly out on Thursday and we tried to squeeze in a couple of last adventures. We went on a five mile hike in the Vienna Woods. It mostly was a little too much like a desperate act to do a few things that we hadn't done yet. As a result it wasn't really the adventure we had hoped. It was really too hot and too hurried.

Sunday we said goodbye to the ward. Lori said goodbye to her primary class, Emily to her friends and Nathan to his. They said goodbye to me too, but they will be missed!

But that one thing we had to do was ride the Riesenrad, the Giant Farris Wheel made famous in the classic film the Third Man.

Nathan was just happy to be there:

Lori tired to bravely face our last adventure:

And Emily's ready to come home:

And so we will see you soon! Just some parting shots.

Here is the View from the Riesenrad:

Auf Weidersehen! Und Bis Bald Alles.

Bad News-By Nathan Peck

So as we have all told you we are coming this Thursday but we get home like way uber late so you probably wont be able to see us until Friday, or later, and then my Father will be returning in about a month to finish his work. But we regret to inform you that we will only be staying for a week and then and then coming back here, due to my Father becoming insane again, and is making us stay here in Austria as hes slaves...basically. We are really quite scared sense he refuses to see a Doctor. Last night in a fit of rage he grabbed my Xbox and threw it against the wall smashing it into hundreds of pieces. hopefully while we are in Utah we can convince him to see a Doctor so he can get better. and also so that we can stay in Utah. well that's all I'm going to tell you right now and i will update you soon on his condition.
