Snow

We got our first snowfall this morning.  I tested out our new tires on my little car.  They work better but still did some ice skating on the street.  The mountains look gorgeous with all the snow!!
During the storm I was at Walmart and all the lights went out.  The electronic doors stopped working and only a couple of registers worked.  I don't think that's a place where I want to be if the electricity goes out.

On a happier note.....

This whole political year is driving me insane!!! I haven't seen soooooo much hate in a very long time. I know it's not just one party or the other but living in a very "red" state I see more of the one side more. I'm sure someone living in a "blue" state would see more of that side. But I think what is hardest is that since a Mormon is running for office I see some of the hate coming from the Mormons. Maybe I'm nieve but I was hoping that we would hold a higher standard. I guess we're all human.....kinda a cop-out. But I haven't seen the hate from my ward and I'm so grateful for that. Another thing I don't like are all the prejudices......black, muslim, etc. There is absolutely no room for that.  I hope we can all try to be more Christ-like and accepting of everyone.
I am reminded all the time when I look at my adorable grandkids that there is a lot of hope for the future. And the love they radiate helps to erase a lot the hate that is spewing around us. I look so forward to Christmas when all of us can be together!  I love these cute little people and grateful for their constant reminder of love!!!!

Cider

A couple of days ago our neighbors, Brian and Annie asked if we had a cider press. They have 7 apple trees full of apples and wanted to make cider with them. So we decided on today.......even though our trees didn't produce much of anything this year.
One of the slats on the press was broken into many pieces so I took the measurements and made a new one for today.  The one I made is on the right (above) and Steve said it worked really good when we made the cider.  Yeah!!
Asher taste testing the apples before they were made into cider.
Maddox loved putting the apples in.
Steve and Brian
We got it down to a system.......everyone rotating every now and then.

Nathan and his MTC companion, Vanhin (Brian) Mortensen.  Yeah they did help and relaxed in between.  :)

My happy children.  :)
Maddox and Asher had fun in the cooler full of water once the apples were out of it.  The Irwin's brought over 3 HUGE coolers of apples and we made probably around 12+ gallons of cider.  It was delicious!!
Afterwards we also did a toast to my Grandad Awbrey........who press it use to be.  Great memories Grandad!!!

Tough Mudder

Christopher, Jaron and their friend, Gavin, did the Tough Mudder yesterday.  I was the official photographer for them.

To get to the starting line they had to first climb over the wall.  The organizers got them all pumped up,  excited and ready to go!!

The Artic Enema was the 2nd obstacle for them......and the most dreaded.
As people were coming out of it, profanity was flying everywhere.  So much profanity that it was getting comical.

Poor guys were in total pain coming out of there.
I ran to some other areas and waited for them to get there.  I waited for about a half hour and still didn't come.  So I ran to a different one.  Then I saw them coming.

The lines were really long at some of these obstacles so the wait was pretty long.  This one wasn't too hard one for them.

Then I started jogging to the next obstacle where they were all running too.  They had a lot of fun at this one.

Then ran over to this one.  Before I forget......at the beginning of the race it was really cloudy, cold and windy.  The wind especially doesn't go good with being in cold water.  By this obstacle it started to clear up a little so the guys weren't freezing to death.

By this obstacle it started to cloud up again and get windy and cold.

Now they are freezing and exhausted.

But they made it to the end.  I am so proud of them!!!!
