My Day......by Lori

This is what I do EVERY day except Sunday. I walk 2 blocks to the Billa's to get food. I can only buy what I can carry home so it's not a whole lot. That's why I have to go every day. I have a teenager and one on a growth spurt so I always have to keep the food stocked up or it will get pretty ugly here. Their grocery stores are really small compared to ours.

Plus you have to pay to use their carts. You get it back when you return it. After I pay for everything and bag it (you have to buy your bags too so you learn to save them) I carry it all back uphill to our apartment. Nathan unloads to see if I forgot anything and to see what he can eat.

The store I love going to is called Butlers.

It has some of the cutest stuff. Just look at the pictures and see.

They are constantly getting new stuff in there for me to lust after. They are a German based store and they know what they're doing. Seriously...how can you resist some of this stuff?

Dear Lori - The stores look like so much fun to shop in and especially if it's a German based store. What is the mushroom in one of the pictures? You've got to have real control to walk out with nothing. I sure couldn't do it. My good advise to you is - Buy! Buy! Buy!. Love you - Mom Peck

Butlers looks like a complete rip-off of IKEA. Or maybe IKEA ripped off Butlers. I don't think Nathan much cares so long as what is carried back from Billa is good. Lori, how are the food prices?

Nathan, I sent your parents a picture of the schnitzel I had at the Vienna Bistro here in SLC. You are right ... that stuff is good!

Inquiring minds want to know:
- what does your church look like?
- are there any natural wonders?
- or are there only museums?
- does Nathan ever exercise?
- what's on tv in Vienna?
- are the beds shorter there?
- what does the water taste like?
- what dog breeds are popular?
- is there a zoo there?
- are the hills alive with the SOM?
- what war vestiges are there?
- WWII? WWI?
- Bohemian Peasant Rebellion?
- Hapsburg-Ottoman War?
- where can you go hiking?
- are there any skater dudes?
- what music is popular?
- are iPods all the rage?
- tell us about shoe fashion
- child
- teen
- female adult
- male adult (no sneakers right!)
- can you wear socks with sandals?
- do men wear capri pants?
- what about modern architecture?
- what are public restrooms like?
- billboards?
- dance halls? disco joints?
- evidence of teenage angst?
- do children ride bikes?
- who wears jewelry?
- popular automobiles?
- what about European movies?
- where do pigeons poop in Vienna?

Wow - a shoppers paradise. Dyann would go nuts, so when we come, no credit card for her.

Hey, Steve W - I know the answer to where pigeons poop. - It's on the ground, buildings and on your head. See that one was not so hard. - Glad I could help with at least one of your questions.

htSW you beat us to it. Bill says that the store looks like IKEA also. That tells me right away, not his thing. Gotta have tools for him. When we were standing waiting for a bus in Paris, I had a pigeon poop right down the front of my shirt. Guess I should be thankful it wasn't my head. After that I always called it my pigeon shirt. At least it had enough colors that after it was wiped off, not much showed. Butlers had lots of neat stuff, but I still like 2nd hand stores best for looking.

I really like your grocery store. There even something about the name that makes me want to go there.
Good luck answering Waters questions, but if you start now--
Butlers looks like a minature Ikea as our Jasper store is a minature Walmart.
Pigeons are a problem, I live a couple hundred yards from a pond where canada geese hangout so evasive action is paramount.
